I just spoke to the second owner of my Carfax Certified one owner car.

Kinja'd!!!

Lots of major maintenance has been done to it recently, so that's nice.

A 1-owner anything for a car that old would have been a miracle anyway.

My Carfax certified no accident LS430 had been in a fairly severe rear end collision. Suffice to say  Carfax doesn’t carry much weight for me anymore.

Why don’t more cars have a HUD?

Kinja'd!!!1

Kind of depends, they are either held onto or passed around.

They’re out there.  Technically my truck was 1 owner when I got it.

Because HUDs don’t move units.

Only if Britney Spears and Jessica Alba are twerking in this HUD.

No one needs to know their speed so intently that they can’t look down at the speedometer which is right behind the steering wheel 99% of the time... except MINI coopers who decided a giant speedometer in the center console is where it should be - it will be a conversation piece.

Congrats on the new whip! I was out in my mom’s C5 over the weekend, such an easy car to drive, I’m always impressed with it. Also the lines make the c5 a fun car to wash too.

We have two vehicles that were involved in 3 separately expensive repairs that included a police report, first tier insurance involvement, dealership bodyshop repair, etc.

The results on CARFAX was no accident. I called CARFAX to find out why $14,000 in damage didn’t show up while an oil change did?

They said that accidents need to be a certain value in order to register or causes a change in title such as “Salvage” title . So it seems you can have quite a bit of damage be fore CARFAX will show an accident.

I’m technically  the second owner of my LX470, and based on the service records it might actually be true.

Depends on the car. For something like a Corolla you are never going to find a one owner example more than 10 years old. For something with any amount of collectors value when new like a Corvette there are going to be plenty of people who are going to buy them new with the idea of holding on to them for a long time.

Old people also tend to be sentimental. I’m the second owner to register my Mini. Older gentleman bought it new in 2003 and loved it until he passed in 2014.

How did you find them? A nd then manage to talk to them? I’m guessing something to do with the title as far as the first question goes.

Nope. Posted to a C5 page, get a message from him. He asks if all the lights had been replaced with LED’s(they have, someone jacked the headlights though). Then he sent me the VIN, and yep, it was his. He only owned it 14 months, but he did tons to it. New cooling system, n ew valve springs, n ew battery, n ew lighting, a catch can,  etc.

I am the second owner of my Chevelle. Got it from the estate of the recently-passed original owner, the lady at the DMV had no idea what to do with a title from 1971.

I know a guy who was gently rear-ended in his 1-month-old Honda. All it needed was a new bumper cover, but he made sure the body shop wasn’t going to report it to carfax before letting them do the repair .

I met a guy at a trail race a couple years ago who was the only owner of the 1985 Tercel wagon he had driven to the race. Even I, with  my love for absurd cars, would never take that on a hilly 75mph stretch of interstate in daytime traffic levels. Hippies are a weird bunch.

A HUD is a totally under-rated feature.  After having one, I have a hard time getting used to driving a car without one, like my winter truck.  One a performance car, it’s a must.

Yeah- I’m the second owner of my 1990 comanche (still have the window sticker and book with all maintenance logged in it). On the flip side, I  was the 4th/5th owner of my 2001 Cherokee, hahaha.
